Week 17 - ITF ($25K) - Obidos, Portugal Carpet

Katie was very off colour today, and well beaten.
Her loss condemns GB women to a losing week overall.

SF: Katie SWAN (GBR) [3] 315 lost to Pemra OZGEN (TUR) [6] 374 4-6 4-6

Edit : to show as the SF stage.

No swep for the Brits in doubles.
Freya's search for a tenth pro title goes on. Though, I'm she'd she'd just settle for a first singles title at this point.
F: Christie/Mestach (GBR/BEL) [1] 529 lost to Cabeza Candela/Fita Boluda (ESP/ESP) 947 6-7(3) 6-1 [6-10]

Wow, did Freya and An-Sophie throw that away! Losing the first set from 5-1 up was absolutely awful....

Pemra also kept it very tight and played well, even though Katie was the more powerful player and should have at least taken the match to a third set... And the backhand volley Ozgen played on MP was a superb shot, and a deserved winning point at that stage!

Was that a GB overall losing week even giving Katie a SF win ?

Not that as you know I really particularly judge weeks by overall W/L records.

That's a bad loss for Katie. Ozgen is someone she should look to beat week in week out by now.

Hopefully just an off day.

Still waiting for Katie's break to the next level to come.
