Commonwealth Games

Being frank I haven't been and never really am turned on by thes games - I don't find the events meaningful and can't get interested.

However - shout out to the England netball team. Those two wins in the last second v Australia and Jamaica were pure drama and given the top teams in the world were at the games, then it was an impactful and important win for the team. Well done to all in the sport and to tracy neville for all her hard work.

And a shout out to James Willstrop who lives in my town and won squash gold, as well as Jack laugher , also from round here , who won three diving medals!

Once upon a time ...

But over recent Commonwealth Games I just haven't got into them at all. I guess I prefer to see the best vs best much more than this gathering.

But yes in a few sports it is and certainly some finishes in the netball.

I have loved it, the netball both today and yesterday was immense, the ladies basketball also amazing a silver medal in a sport we dont play much that has no funding.

There are some fantastic looking athletes out there, very impressed by the physiques of our male gold medal table tennis doubles team (who can really play but look like a couple of office workers) and of course to the Queens prize rifle gold medalists. For some non Olympic sports this is as good as it gets in terms of multi-sport events, it is just not obvious how outstanding they may be in a niche sport and of course what else they may do simultaneously to earn a living. Bring on Brum 2022.
