I missed most of the second set and all the third set - but what I did see was absolutely enthralling.

it is fantastic that we have a group of ladies pushing each other, Katie S is obviously not too far behind in terms of talent level and of course Fran will be hard on their heels, a very good week for British ladies tennis ....... er......in the longer term.

Closest Freya has been to a winner's trophy in a while.

You've got to think Beth and Olivia will get (at the very least) a quali doubles wildcard for Wimbly. Especially as Olivia is part of the LTA player/coach scheme.

Would be lovely if they got a main draw wildcard....

They certainly deserve it. They got MDWC for the 100k's at Surbiton and Manchester last year - surely this year they've earned wildcards for higher events.

Back in action today, as the opposition shuffle their partnerships trying to find a way to win !

Katie B, now with particularly her Miami qualifying 30 points and these 50 title points has now in ranking points terms brought her first 4 months points into line with her last 8 months of last year for a consistent overall 12 months.

May to August 2017: 114 ( 6 counters )
September to December 2017: 106 ( 4 )
January to April 2018: 113 ( 6 )

Total points at 30/04/18: 333 ( from the maximum 16 counters ).

Certainly a CH at 30/04/18, to reward that best overall 12 months. Her live ranking is 173.

Her next counters to come off are 15 on 14/05 and 48 on 21/05.
