Can is a clay court natural

Nishioka has not played competitively on clay since 2016 and if you look at his results, he didnt win too many matches.

We seem to have number 1 seed in quite a lot of tournaments this week.

Qualifiers would be placed against Pella and face Querry in R2, Verdasco and face Taro Daniel or Karlovic in R2, Ryan Harrison and face Fritz or Smyczek in R2 or Zeballos and face Sock in R2.

L16:  Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 113 (65+48) vs Fabrice Martin & Purav Raja (FRA/IND) CR 100 (38+62)

The Bryans are the top seeds & Ken & Neal will probably have to play them if they get through that one.

That was a terrible draw. However if he had entered the tournament in the first place he would have been main draw easily. He only entered qualifying

To be fair, even in the main draw he might've gotten a terrible draw. I'd actually argue that this wasn't a bad one at all.

ATP Level every opponent is potentially tough, the step up between Challenger and ATP shows here. Cam probably too good for Challenger but not quite at the ATP Level to string a run of wins together.

Cam has yet to play a full year of full time professional tennis.

In his career he has played a handful of professional matches on clay.

How does he compare to most players who have chosen the college route?...... to be fair they are still in college.

I think one has to question whether this tournament, this surface or this time in his career is the time to make any objective judgement as to the level he is at or wher he might get to, perhaps give him another 3 or 4 years.
