Totally agree with you he should give singles another go. he was snubbed for a QWC at Roehampton 2 years ago and seems to have given up on singles

Indeed, except for this tournament Jonny wouldn't have got in even if he wanted to. Qualifying is fully subscribed with a last direct entry of WR 725.

Ah good. Usually the first post says those likely to be in the main draw so was just checking :)

And as if by magic:

L32:  (1) Yannick Hanfmann (GER) WR 121 (CH = 112 in January) vs Jay Clarke WR 238 (CH = 219 last December)

It's like you read my mind!

And it's a familiar opponent as well.

Im the case then go elsewhere where he would get in. Hes a better singles player than the likes of Billy Harris, Jonny Gray etc but obviously lacks ambition or knuckling down it seems. To give up on tennis at his young age is disappointing unless finances dictate which may be likely.

If you you or anyone else hasn't listened to Luke's talk with Mike Cation a couple of months ago, Luke specifically answers about his shift to being so much a doubles specialist.

At just over 11 minutes in ( I would miss the coffee chat etc at the start ) Mike asks him "How hard was that on your ego?"

Luke replies: "Great question. Hard. It was hard" and spends the next 7 minutes enlarging on that and the whys and wherefores with occasional diversions.
