It's maybe more symbolic than anything else - but it's a very important symbolic moment - and actually a good win too.....

So I'd like to nominate Jay Clarke as the first GB player to get a proper, official win on the board, post COVID.

Well done, that man !

 Dan Cox

Emily Appleton

Stuart Parker

Billy Harris

Emma Raducanu

Liam Broady

 Jay Clarke .

No week 3 nominations but Andy, Jo, Joe, Jamie/Neal all still in play in USA,  all the Challenger and ITF players kick off today.

I suspect andy and jo could be close to nominations depending on today's results, maybe the doubles guys also. Need to see how rest go.

So the nominations for player of the month will be posted this Sunday evening as normal. Current list as below

Dan Cox

Emily Appleton

Stuart Parker

Billy Harris

Emma Raducanu

Liam Broady

Jay Clarke .

Any others that people have, please nominate them by 10pm Sunday, please.

If it stays as the list of 7 above, we will have one single poll. If any more come in, I will split them into groups as feels appropriate and we can have semis and a final.

As things stand, Andy Murray, Jo Konta, Joe Salisbury, Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski (as a pair) and then anyone who does anything exciting at the Challenger (Liam already nominated so unlikely given the only other player in is Lloyd G in doubles with Liam), ITF (just Aidan McHugh), domestic tour level (Arthur Fery maybe if he repeats last weeks win?) or George Loffhagen if he continues to win well out in France, could force their way into contention.

Hard to see any of these standing out as a shoe in at the moment, lots of play to go in Cinci/NYC and Trieste to change things but, at the moment, Stuart Parker is in with a real fighting chance here of taking the PoM title for August.

Other players will be available to vote for...

Was tempted to add Andy after his victory of Zverev but let's see how he gets on against Raonic first.

If Ms Williams (S) goes out in the next round, I know where my vote will be.

Players need nominating before they get a vote!

Looks like Andy possibly fell short of a nomination. Still in this week:

JoKo - maybe one more win and she  will get on the list?

Joe Salisbury, Neal S/Jamie M** - again, maybe one more win and into the semis or is it a higher bar for doubles? Let you decide?!

Liam B - already nominated but adding to his body of work

Aidan McHugh - got one win, a long way to go probably (Mandy C made the semis of a W15 last week and didnt  get nominated, so perhaps the ITF bar is reaching a final?).

British Tour - last weeks finalists Arthur Fery and Jonny Gray probably need another final this week to have a shout. A. Bisset reached the womens final last week but isnt in the draw this week, so dont think any of the women are likely to make the list...

** Given Jamie and Neal will have done nothing else apart from play with each other, if they end  up getting nominated then it should be as a pair. Clearly not the case in all pairs, for example where they play with other partners during the period and one does better than the other, or where one plays singles or does better in singles, but in this case, any nomination should clearly be as a pair (unless someone has clear evidence of one carrying the other one!!)

Coming up shortly are Jamie and Neal, and Joe, in quarter finals action in Cinci/NYC. Will a win for any of them or Jo later on, be enough to secure a nomination alongside a semifinals slot in a Masters / premier 5 event?

I said I wont nominate and I wont but I do think reaching the semis in a Masters 1000 , in doubles or singles, is worthy of getting a nomination, so hope someone out there is willing to nominate Jamie and Neal...I will be watching!

And...candidates may include Jamie and Neal and possibly later on Jo and Joe will be considered if put forwards after they have played. I await any further nominations!

Remember you can nominate as many times as you like even if you've nominated before, and anyone can nominate for any reason. No restrictions on nominators or nominees.

Jamie and Neal move 8th in the live Race. A tournament win would move them 2nd.
