Hanfmann is interesting more than halved his rank over the last 12 months or so down to 120s at the end of 2017, 317 2016, 657 in 2015, 849 in 2014 at the age of 21.

No real junior rank just enough to get him to USC but with a big serve as a major weapon did OK in his 3rd and 4th year. Obviously he had a great run at Gastadd last year but says he had some good games prior to that that lead him to believe he could compete on the ATP tour. Not too different from Jack Finder-Hawkins although Jack did what he did from a much less prestigious college programme. Fingers crossed!

Incidental he is also hearing impaired so there are a couple of top tennis players with the same handicap.

Thanks Oakland - who else fits into this handicap category out of interest?

Lee Duck-Hee the South Korean teenager is totally deaf ie has to watch for hand signals for line calls. Admittedly young he is ranked 600, I would still call that a top tennis player as it puts him ahead of about 3 billion people with normal hearing.

He was ranked in the top 200 last year. Has one some ITF tournaments.
