The top half of the draw does look a fair bit tougher with a few more dangerous players lurking. A lot will also depend on where the Qs like Myers end up being placed.

Good luck to both.

Hope Katy can get a few more wins and points this week.

Katy is also playing in the doubles again, this week with Kimberly Birrell (AUS). They are the top seeds and have a bye into the QF.
Tomorrow's OOP has Katy up 3rd in her singles, not before 1300 there/ 3 am UK time.

Katy has decided that the tactic of fractious displays of temper from the first set probably wasn't a cogent game plan.
Deciding to play tennis in the second set is proving much more profitable.
2-6 *5-2

Tjandramulia goes for her shots and if she makes them, there's not much to be done; a bit like Laura R.
That was a pretty blameless break.
2-6 5-3*

Tjandramulia is dangerous - in the streaky sense.
If Katy just keeps patient and works her around, she should prevail.

Get the Aussie moving on the FH side, and you'll win most points. Give her a target, static, and time to set up, on that side, and you're on to a loser.
First clear lead of the match for Katy.

Had double break, lost double break. Short second serves with nothing on, in the middle of the box.

Recovers the double break, first three points kept to the winning formula, simple, return to feet, take time away, then move her out wide - won them all. Next four points went for winners early - lost them all. A DF, and then a return to the good plan sealed the deal.
Serving for the match then.

Katy has definitely worked a lot on her serve over the years, and it has changed. That's not the same thing as getting better, but she has really tried.
Easy break for Tjandramulia profiting off inviting juicy second serves.

A break to win maybe best chance.
BH DTL return winner, 30-15*
Can't do much with a strong serve, Aussie to net and kills 30-30*
Moved Olivia out on the FH again, but the Aussie actually made one! 30-40*
Went for a cross FH winner off the second serve and almost missed the tramlines
Needs to get this done now.
2-6 6-3 *5-3

Tjandramulia has a shot at a FH cross to the side line, and misses about a foot, *15-0
Missed *15-15
Same as point 1, *30-15
Nice BH slice, Olivia can't dig it out.*40-15
2MP
Aussie in charge, easy put away at net - smashes a foot wide!
GSM Dunne

After the strangely crabby first set, the fight and application were as good as usual with Katy.
Serve a liability, and too many nothing shots in the middle of the court, looped and inviting. Clay sliding technique... interesting.
