Gutted for fans of Whyteleaf who have just withdrawn from Isthmian League South Central, they were with Cray Valley Papermill last season in the East, very solid side, The victims of property developers who as it points out in the blurb below are not fronted by Ian Rush if they upset anyone but great friends to non league football
Peter Crouch has turned up at Hamlet keen to have a role in the club undoubtedly related to his burgeoning media career. He is looking at doing a documentary for the discovery channel with a struggling non league club. One of the nice things about watching non league is the proximity of everything, if it were to happen and sensitively made it could be really good but mixed feelings and in the absence of fans TV has saved the game in so many ways.
So it seems there are five full time clubs in conf North and one hybrid club.
Southport have a really tough start with four of the full time clubs in their first five matches.
Southport have had to cut their wage bill to try and ensure they don't lose any more money, whereas the likes of Fylde are still throwing silly money to try and get promoted.
Hamlet are full time but just plodding not spending more on the squad than they earn through the gate and over the bar, as long as gates continue at over 2000 should be able to pay the fine!! Optimistic we will get a good crowd for Dartford.
Cray Valley Papermill after an incredibly challenging set of preseason fixtures crashed out of the FA Cup at Uxbridge such a shame after last years spectacular run to the first round, the best bits of which no one hit to see!
Worcester City already out! But to be frank just glad they are back in Worcester and beginning to get crowds approaching 500 in step 5 looked shaky so far on the pitch but a bit of success and gates of a 1000 could easily become reality. There are some very special people in Worcester who have kept that club going paradoxically that success means they need a bit more help.
Went to my first ever women's match today, Wolves vs Flyde which is a top of the table clash in the 3rd tier. Enjoyed it although finished 0-0 there was a lot of chances. Nice to just park outside and stroll up and pay cash.
Saw a star in the future in Flyde keeper Khiara Keating, on loan from Man City. Only 17, one shot was heading for the top corner not only did she save it but actually caught with a superman dive, amazing. Her handling was perfect and has a massive kick. Will be playing for England in a few years I'm sure.
Southport down to 14 fit outfielders and not much money in the pot to bring in players.
The club were expecting Dion Charles to move on from Accrington in the transfer window, where there is a big sell on fee, but nothing materialised, so club is still cash strapped,
Great to hear of an outstanding female keeper! Big fan of ladies football but all though there are some very good keepers out there it is often an area of weakness when you go to games. Unexpected bonus in that for some reason Hamlet play Sunday! Unfortunately weighed down with work but what an incentive to get it done.
Went to a cracker of an FA Cup qualifying round game last Saturday. Pint of Whitstable bay IPA £3 in Whitstable, which I supped behind the goal watching the game £6 a can at the Villa and you have to neck it in 5 minutes after queuing for 10 underneath the stand. Went with my son 2 pints, 4 goals great game £21 total expenditure for both, went wild and spent another £3 on the 50/50!

I went the next week as well. Unfortunately the only goal was when Wolves player hoisted a loopy cross which was straight down the keepers throat who then missed it for absolutely no reason under zero pressure. She then pretended to be injured out of embarrassment. It was so basic I don't know why she panicked but she must have done.
Watched a cracking FA Cup game at Chorley yesterday with Southport throwing the kitchen sink at Chorley in the second half to come back from 2 goals down to get a replay.
Marine are step 4 and prior to their FA Cup run last year, they were getting gates of 300-400
On the back of a huge social media crusade last season, they now have 400 season ticket holders and average around 1000 in the league ( they don't travel in large numbers...)
Apparently they are paying normal wages for the league, but having seen them, they should walk the league.
