Property developers and the death of non league football clubs

Biggest match in harrogate history today, 2.30 kick off. Nervous, worried, pessimistic.

With non league returning to training from 1st Aug, the government will be happy that so many will come off furlough. The non league paper is also back to full staff. Friendlies are already in place for some. However still waiting for guidance on spectators and start dates. Fixtures cannot be released until playoffs completed

Not been to Harrogate for quite some time, but their ground has changed significantly, with stands and standing added and the ground looks a bit odd. Not sure what will happen ref the pitch

Lots of odd stands gone up, almost one new one per year. It's a higgledepigleddy place now!

Pitch will be re laid as turf if we go up!

You cannot dig up and re-lay a pitch in 6 weeks

Looks like Alty have put out York, which means another club with a big budget will be in National League N.

Fylde will be favourites with a big budget. York have a new ground and big support, so will be well funded. Other than that, I would expect budgets to be fairly even for most.

Chester have lost their backer and all their experienced players have gone. Telford have brought in some decent players.

Probably helps that chairman owns Strata and probably has everything lined up and ready to go.

Surely been plenty instances of pitches being dug up and relaid a very short time before being played on. Like a week or 2.

It is the knitting together of the grass that is the problem. Both Southport and Spennymoor repaid their pitches at the end of the previous season and both had major issues with the pitch in the winter.

I think say Forest Green Rovers might dispute that.

Super article as a whole though, good to learn so much more. And your daughter's tea shop got a mention
