The issue with the majority of conf South teams is that they either have very little history at this level or are located close to a football league club.
If you take teams out of that list who have played in the football league or are a phoneixclub replacing an ex football league club the north south skewing in relationship goes away, so it's more about having a history in the football league as opposed to non league indeed you begin to see the names of the traditional non league giants re-emerge after the adjustment.
Arguably the biggest nion league club in the north is one with only a very recent history (an admirable on never the less) full stop. The The geographical difference in attendances evens out Harrogate Town become the 5th biggest in the North!
1. Sutton United 2. FC Utd of Manchester 3. Woking 4. Eastleigh 5. AFC Fylde 6. Salford City 7. Bromley 8. Ebbsfleet 9. South Sheilds 10. Maidenhead Utd 11. Dulwich Hamlet 12. Dover Athletic 13. Harrogate Town 14. Boston Utd 15. Chorley 16. AFC Telford 17 Billericay Town 18. Dartford 19. Guseley 20. Solihull Moors

Thanks Oakie, that's an interesting table. Looking at the list, a few of these teams have thrown some money at it, not just Harrogate but also Billericay of course and didnt Guiseley (relatively) spend big (they signed Socrates if I recall correctly!).
One note - weren't Boston in the league for a shortwhile a few years ago, 2002-07 if my memory serves (ok if wikipedia is correct!) around the time they hit financial problems when Steve Evans was in charge ?
Yes your probably right I did hesitate when typing in Boston which brings in another team from them Deep South and where Stuart Pearce played his football while still a sparky ... Wealdstone
So gate won ( sorry paulisi) but so did Salford, 2-0 away. 3 matches left, 3 points in it still. Expect gate need to win them all and hope Salford slip up along the way. Come on Southport!
I hope that Harrogate don't get up to anything dodgy in the run-in or it could be Harrogate-gate igmc
Sorry, feeling silly as St Mirren have won the Scottish Championship and thus promotion, continuing on almost all season the form that saw them come from looking doomed to escape relegation last season

well done St mirren!
Do you listen to the Danny Baker show? They had a guy on a year back, st mirren fan but lives in Bristol. He'd go back to watch St mirren maybe 4 or 5 times a season and been doing it for 18 years and each time they'd lost. He'd never seen St mirren win
I lost track of what happened more recently but presume they've won for him since then !
Congratulations! If you loose Jack Ross when Ipswich or Sunderland come calling, I am sure St Mirren legend Paul Lambert will be available. How did he get a job at Stoke?
Just listen to Danny Baker occasionally. Didn't hear the St Mirren fan. He'll have done 'well' to avoid seeing us winning this season if he's been up to watch a few times.
Speaking of attendances there were 6,172 for the clinching excitement of a 0-0 draw with second place Livingston. Big for the Championship ( since Rangers, Hearts and Hibs went back to where they belong ) but I thought that there might be more for our first home game chance to clinch the title. But then I believe a St Mirren fan in Edinburgh couldn't shift himself through to Paisley for the match.
Now talking Scottish non league ( thought I would continue this effort to be relevant ), my very local side, Spartans ( just over a mile away ) also clinched a title today, the Lowland League. In the Scottish Pyramid System ( a bit smaller pyramid up here ) they now go into a play-off against the Highland League champions, Cove Rangers. The winners of that face the Scottish League 2 bottom side, Cowdenbeath, for a place in the league.
Current League 2 side, Edinburgh City, ( the last new side into the league ) currently share Spartans ground so I could potentially have two league clubs almost on my doorstep. Not that Hibs and Hearts are exactly far.

Naa. THE St Mirren legend is Tony Fitzpatrick, our 1987 Scottish Cup winning captain, two spells as manager plus I think it was another two as caretaker manager. He'd be first in with his application again. He has a street named after him. Fitzpatrick Way, at the redevelopments around our old Love Street ground.

Good luck to Spartans! I worked with a chap called Craig Graham who was Chairman of Spartans a few years ago, may still be - certainly a board member - and so always followed them from afar!

Yes, Craig Graham is still Chairman according to www.spartansfc.com
