Property developers and the death of non league football clubs

The FA have now arranged all the leagues for next season and there are a lot of clubs that have been moved into different leagues and are appealing the decision.

Kendal Town for instance have been moved from the NW Counties to the Northern League (NE clubs)

Marine, Braintree and Leamington win their playoff matches and are promoted.

Marine might just be for one season as their ground doesn't meet NLN requirements and there is nowhere to expand...

Interestingly Marine have announced ambitious plans to find a second ground in the area with a ground suitable of host FL and keep their current ground(plastic pitch and has a groundshare agreement) at a cost of 5 million.

Where they will find that money, I have no idea.

They are also asking season ticket holders for donations to boost their budget, so they can be competitive.

Horrible week for many reasons but hear warming to see good people stepping up to do the right thing.

I have an immense amount of respect for all who volunteer to do anything in their community. Many such people can be found in non league football

Interesting start to the season for my local team Worthing. 3-0 down at HT having sold our best 3 players in summer. Won 4-3 with a last minute penalty. Good to have the football back!

Nearly 2500 for the local derby between Southport and Marine.
Not played each other in the league for over 20 years.

Unfortunately it was probably one of the worst games to watch - a bore non scoring draw.

Looks like Macclesfield under Robbie Savage will be playing in National League North.
Carlisle and Morecambe looked doomed for National League football next season, which will make the National League very Northern based as quite a few southern clubs look like getting relegated and Barnet look like going up.
Bury have a great chance of promotion into NPL West, their only rivals are Lower Breck and Bury are still getting 3500+ at home and selling out away.

I assume Eastleigh would be the big game if you got promoted.

Blyth are a mess and have been relegated. They were a big club...

Quorn - I had to look it up(near Loughborough) might be the first team to be promoted into the NPL.

S****horpe United's game against Chester on Saturday is set to break the National League North record attendance

Including more than 1,450 away supporters there will be over 8,000 fans at the Step 2 game

Yes, I see it's a biggie. Two points between Scun thorpe in the one automatic promotion top place and Chester in 2nd with 7 matches left.

I wonder if this thread is best renamed something like simply "Non League Football" given the much more general nature that evolved a long time ago?

Non League day this weekend.

If you are at a loose end with no top flight football, go and watch your local club.

In the National League - Barnet are well clear and Ebbsfleet are relegated.
National League N - S****horpe are in the driving seat. Farsley, Warrington, Needham Market and Rushall look doomed.
National League S is very tight at the top. 6 teams are within 3pts...

In the feeders
NPL - Robbie Savage's Macclesfield won the league today.
Mid C - 4 teams within 2pts of each other
Mid S - Merthyr are running away with the League
Isthmian - fight between Dartford and Billericay.
