She has hardly played juniors and she has no ambition to go back to juniors. She has decided she will develop better playing against a older and better players.
She has also come through the system despite being based out in the sticks in East Anglia.

I never think of East Anglia as the sticks for GB Womens tennis. East Anglia is Suffolk. Suffolk is Ipswich. Ipswich is Bally. Bally is EBAT. EBAT is a great facility for young GB womens tennis development
I don't know if Katherine crossed the EBAT path at all?

Data I post, opinions I offer, 'facts' I assert, are almost certainly all stupidly wrong.
I love the idea often heard that East Anglia is the sticks when it is has London so relatively close to the south, especially Suffolk. Actually even more so Essex and Hertfordshire which are apparently also part of East Anglia.
Says someone who grew up in the Scottish Highlands.
It was her words. I was chatting to her at the Wirral ITF.
There are so few people of a suitable level to hit with. She travel to Ipswich to train, but I think she is based quite a bit further up the coast.
And I went to UEA and used to live in Norfolk, so for me East Anglia is Norwich and Norfolk, and the Broads, and the beautiful coastline (including Suffolk), and a country side that is marked by beautiful, stark monochromatic skylines. It's a special part of the UK.
That's weird, I can't see a Q draw in the ITF tournament listing, but there is a final Q OOP for tomorrow... and the news isn't good, because Katherine will have to play the Q1 seed to get into the main draw.
FQR: Katherine BARNES (GBR) UNR vs Cemre ANIL (TUR) [Q1] 847 (CH:788 July 17)
The draw is showing for me. Just one of those ITF blips
Yeah, for the tournament doubles page, although there's no draw there yet, I have some rather abstract lines that allow for 1 QF and then 2 SFs and a F and that's it
