I notice that Nadja Gilchrist, the Bath based American whom CD mentioned in the Week 9 Sharm thread, is back in the first round of qualifying here (with 3 rounds to go). That's a bit tough after reaching the QF last week AND the final two weeks before, and winning one round, the week in between. In short Nadja will have 10 points and 3 counters at the end of Indian Wells and thus a reasonable ranking... but for the moment can't even get a bye into Q2!
Jodie efficiently took advantage of the good fortune, 6-3 6-0
Moves to 3-4 on the year; looking to end the week hopefully above .500
Awauting the winner of Siska/Karregat to determine her next opponent.

Data I post, opinions I offer, 'facts' I assert, are almost certainly all stupidly wrong.
Jodie reached the final in Sharm during Miama last year, so has 7+1 coming off by the end of the Miama tournament. She also has unused 1 counters, and with the 2 points so far here that means she will be -8+3 after Miama = -5 points. Jodie is playing next week in Sharm too, when the field will be weaker and she will be seeded. So between this week and next, she really needs to make up those further 5 points coming off....
