One would hope Cam can win this one; Liam clearly a tight call based on rankings but the sort of match he should be looking to win if he wants to rise up. Next round though Liam would face Fratangelo possibly, a tough cookie, and Norrie would possibly play Stakhovsky - he has some decent experience and obviously won some big matches but also someone again that Cam should look to beat at this stage.

Liam is second Stadium 9 today, Cam is 3rd on Stadium 2, which appears to be the showcourt during qualies.

As per the ATP/WTA Live app, they are 2nd and 3rd ATP matches. But both courts begin with 2 WTA matches so overall 4th and 5th matches respectively.

So look like maybe being for UK night owls.

Kyle gets istomin or gojowyck in round 2 after a bye, then possibly Schwartzmann in 3Rd Round.

Field has 16 seeds in top 19 players so not too decimated and kyles draw isn't too bad.

Well done cam on a comfortable win

L96:  BYE vs (21) Kyle Edmund WR 24 (= CH  smile )

I presume this is the first time Kyle has been seeded at a Masters event?

****

L48:  Denis Istomin (UZB) WR 87 (CH = 33 in August 2012) or Peter Gojowczyk (GER) WR 50 (= CH) vs (21) Kyle Edmund WR 24

Great news that Kyles ranking is high enough to get seeded in slams and first round byes! Valuable time to focus on quality preparation.

Indeed it is.

Indian Wells and Miami are the only Masters with such big draws and 32 seeds as against 16 seeds. And last year Kyle was still in the mid 40s in the rankings at this time so not seeded for either.

Be great if he can continue to progress so that he is seeded in all Masters events, but still of course good to notch up the first after his Aussie Open exploits.
