Unfortunately both Katy and Gabi are in the same half of the draw, so should they get that far they will meet in the SF.

Shame for them.

Very tough draw for Katy. From my understanding Pivovarova is a brick wall so Katy better be ready.

The only player to beat Gabby in 2018 is in her quarter too.

Pivovarova withdraws.
Ms. Dunne's new opponent was defeated by Gabi, at the start of February, in R32 of Launceston, 1 & 3.

R32: Katy DUNNE (GBR) [3] 256 v. (LL) Renee MCBRYDE (AUS) 947 (CH 945, Feb. 2018)

Katy and Gabi are also teaming up and playing doubles together for the first time, at least on this Australian tour, and are the 2nd seeds. Their first round singles and doubles are all up tomorrow in the early hours.

If they are to meet in the SF Katy leads the HTH 2-0. Both last year.

Katy takes her first set 6-1, while Gabi is on serve leading 3-2*.

Katy was about 1/100 to win her match.

Gabi breaks to love to lead *4-2 and with that I'm going to bed. Both are big favourites now to progress, so hopefully I wake up to 2 good / safe results.

I'm not sure if they have hawk eye here, but I was following it on a bookies website and it went from 15-30 to 0-40, so I assume it must have been a successful challenge or overrule or something.

Looks like straightforward wins for them both, although they both dropped their serves.
Doubles not going so well 2-6 0-1*

Gabi got a look at her next singles opponent (McPhee) - given the score here, that may be useful intel

Being repetitive so deleted most, but glad to see Katy and Gabi progressing relatively serenely today singles and doubles, even if it obviously took them a set to work out what each other was doing in the doubles. Suspect Annie K is increasingly keeping an eye on the fortunes of this pair.
