It will be interesting to see how Jack goes this being his first tournament since a very successful Shrewsbury. Just been reading the Shrewsbury programme compliments of "Budgens Motors" a glossy affair, obviously they have made a real effort to provide some information for spectators puts Wimbledon quali's to shame!
L16: Fernando Bogajo (ESP) & Joel Cannell UNR (0+799) vs (WC) Luis Faria & Martim Leote Prata (POR/POR) CR 2681 (1395+1286) L16: Peter Bothwell (IRL) & Jack Findel-Hawkins CR 1733 (603+1130) vs (2) Maximilian Neuchrist & David Pichler (AUT/AUT) CR 664
The weather is terrible over there just now. I have family living near this venue and youd think they were in Glasgow or Manchester with all the rain Ive seen that theyve sent me.
Another of the major problems that have is the lack of courts. This is something I highlighted at Faro when I was there a couple of years and the same problem exists in Loule. They are trying to run 128 player qualifiers on just 4 courts (Loule) or 6 courts (Faro) and so many of the qualifying matches are played at Vale de Lobo, which is a good 20-30 minute drive away. This will surely restrict flexibility when trying to rearrange schedules during the day if there is interference from the weather.
4 courts for 128 Qualifying field is stupid. Even if there are other courts, 30 minutes away which isnt really on imo. Surprised the itf dont have tighter rules on this. At what point does an event get scraped due to potential over run etc..
