Week 9 - Challenger ($150,000+H) - Oracle Challenger Series, Indian Wells, CA (hard)

QR1:  Luke Bambridge WR 592 (CH = 481 in May 2016) vs (q7) Marinko Matosevic (AUS) WR 334 (CH = 39 in February 2013)  bleh

Only 16 men in the draw!  Should Luke manage to overcome the 32-year-old Bosnia & Herzegovina-born Aussie, he'll play Christian Harrison (q1) in the FQR.  hmm

Not if the ATP live scoreboard is to be believed - unless he's somehow crept into the main draw, of course... wink

Liam was 2nd Alt so if no SEs then he will be in the main draw. His Instagram story shows his players pass for the tournament. So I assume he got in.

Luke's potential Q2 opponent, Q1 seed Christian Harrison, is WR238 so if Liam is there he'll be comfortably in the main draw

Luke had points to take the second set by 6-3 & even served for it at 5-4.  hmm

Liam will probably wish he'd applied elsewhere:

L32:  (1) Marius Copil (ROU) WR 73 (= CH) vs Liam Broady WR 161 (CH = 158 in August 2015)  bleh

Doubles is out Neal is teaming up with Hugo Nys as the number 1 seeds. Luke and Joe are playing together again and theirs opponents are Liam who is pairing up with the Aussie Matt Reid.

Petzchner and Smyzcek could be an interesting challenge for Neal and partner. Both decent singles players and Petzchner has a decent doubles pedigree when he played with Peya for a couple of seasons.

Hmm. Well clearly Matt Reid must be pretty good and Liam's doubles ranking bears no relationship to his doubles ability, just he rarely plays doubles these days.
