Week 9 - Qatar F1 - Doha ($15,000) (hard)

QR1:  Aydan Gómez (CUW) UNR vs Curtis Clarke UNR (CH = 1518 in September 2015)

First time I've seen a play from Curaçao at one of these events!  Jay should be in the main draw & seeded first in front of bloody Ilhan.

Jean-Julien Rojer is from Curacao and represented the country for a few years before switching to the Netherlands.

Technically he represented the Netherlands Antilles before it dissolved.

And the country code, if I remember rightly, was ANT, which is why "CUW" didn't register.  This is definitely the first time I've seen that.

It seems hard to believe, but that win actually gives Jay a countable point ! I was surprised that he has a number of 0, 1 & 2 pointers in his total
But then, he has progressed up the rankings pretty quickly

With 'just' 16 positive counters and 2 zeros, Jay's L32 win had already added a point for him and his L16 win makes that 2.

Without these 'thank you for turning up' one pointers the women get in 25Ks and above, there are much fewer men with fully subscribed ranking points quotas.

I believe from the Brits just Kyle, Liam and Billy do and Liam and Billy could go below the 18 counters in the next few weeks. Jay did have a full quota last year before dropping counters at the end of last year and beginning of this year.

In contrast we have 17 women with at least their full 16 counters. So for instance Maia's single point this week doesn't advance her total.

The women only having 16 counters will also make a difference.
