week 6 - ITF ($25K) - Launceston, Australia Hard

Suzy Larkin was 1st alternate but doesn't appear in the Q draw, although players below her do and there is a Bye in R1.

The main draw is out now. Katy D plays Zoe Hives, who was a SF in Burnie, Gabi plays a WC and Laura [8] plays Alice Lim. I see Vania King has withdrawn from qualifying, so either she's had enough or is only playing in the doubles. The doubles draw is not out yet.

L32: Katy DUNNE (GBR) 273 vs Zoe HIVES (AUS) 278=CH (following the Burnie SF result)

L32: Gabi TAYLOR (GBR) 280 vs Renee MCBRYDE (AUS) [WC] 977 18yrs

L32: Laura ROBSON (GBR) [8] 236 vs Alize LIM (FRA) 276

It's been nearly a decade since Laura last played Lim - she thrashed Alizé 2 & 0 in Limoges qualifying back in 2008, when they were 14 and 18 respectively.

Tough match for Katy - Hives is 8-1 this year, in very good form, but a nice opener for Gabi by the looks of it.

And they won 14-10 in the championship tie break !!

Lauras doubles match has now disappeared from the OOP and it looks as though they have pulled out. Both still on singles draw fortunately.

It's still showing on the live scores as the next match on court 5.

I must admit I dozed off for a bit and missed most of the 2nd set of the other match, and all the MTB !

In contrast to Katy & Gabi, that was a very gentle warm up for tomorrows singles.

R16: Robson/Savinykh (GBR/RUS) [1] 247 defeated Inoue/Minokoshi (JPN/JPN) 707 6-2 6-1
R16: Dunne/G. Taylor (GBR/GBR) 804 defeated Bozovic/Inglis (AUS/AUS) 1881 6-2 1-6 [14-12]

QF: Robson/Savinykh (GBR/RUS) [1] 247 (132 + 115) v. Lim/Ponchet (FRA/FRA) 997 (672 + 325)
QF: Dunne/G. Taylor (GBR/GBR) 804 (185 + 619) v. Cristian/Mrdeza (ROU/CRO) [3] 459 (276 +183)

Good stuff. Looks like the addict wasn't the only one to doze off in the second set of Katy and Gabi's match but fortunately that pair seem to have woken up for the MTB. As per the ITF 'momentum' info they faced 3 MPs in the MTB ( two from 7-9* and a third at *10-11 ) and won on their their own third MP.

Actually, I'm not over-surprised at the match going to a MTB. I didn't think Katy was serving very well, and looked likely to be broken even in the first set. Gabi looked good though.

All three are playing singles and doubles on Wednesday - starting at 11pm GMT today (Tuesday) with Gabi, followed by Laura. Katy second match on a different court, and doubles later. All of those matches could well be streamed, as those courts were today.

Comfortable first set for Gabi, 6-1 in just over 30 mins. Looks by far the better player compared to the Aussie WC.

Edit Live stream is available
