Emily Appleton was 32nd on the qualifying list so, unless she got a WC, it suggests she must have been a late withdrawal.

Min is a compact and tidy player. Beatable, yes, but she wont make it easy.

Well indeed Grace did not make it easy, but Katie has managed to come through 7-5 7-6(9) in a little under 2.5 hrs smile

Certainly wasn't easy. Katie wins 7-5 7-6(9) in 2 hours 27 minutes. Saved 4 set points in the tie-break (from 3-6) and took it on her third match point.

Edit - must type faster, beaten to it by 8 seconds

That's a good win considering the start of the year so far.

Which is because you've provided extra, interesting information that I had not fully tracked! (I had seen the missed MPs, but not the saved set points.)

Katie and Maria Sanchez's doubles match is still to come... unfortunately for both of them though the preceding singles match is taking rather a long time to complete. Just two sets played so far, with a score of 7-6(5) 4-6 but over 3 hours played for these two sets!!! Oh, and as an aside one of these two players is Maria.... It will be interesting to see if she still turns up for the doubles with Katie once she has completed this marathon.

That's pretty poor scheduling. With 6 courts in play, you'd think they could have scheduled Maria's match earlier, rather than putting Katie, Maria and then the doubles all on the same court.

Was casually reading through until I got to the "aside". Ah ...

There is a match in between the 2nd singles and their doubles, don't know what match no 3 is on that court, but the doubles is no 4, so there's another gap.
