The Tennis For Kids programme (also known as Davis Cup Legacy) has been nothing short of spectacular. Six weeks of free tennis coaching for 10000 kids aged 5-8 in 2016 and they also get a free racquet. Then 20000 kids got the same in 2017. At least a million pounds, very well spent, each year.
And everyone berates their professional level competitions, but the recreational competitions, compared to say the more popular badminton, are night and day in comparison. This weekend I could probably play 5-10 adult competitions within 100 miles. For badminton I would be lucky if I could play 1 competition within 200 miles and even then it would probably be far too high a standard for me.
