Soumeya's first singles outing for over a year, and she makes it through qualies; fighting from a set down to prevail.
She hasn't come through qualies in singles since June 2016; that time it was only a single round.
In fact, this is the first time in her career that Soumeya has won two matches to qualify through to the MD - in her first ever event, in June 2016, she came through two rounds, but had a BYE in QR1.
Even further, it's the first time she's won two singles matches at any pro event.
All-in-all a worthwhile return
Fingers crossed for the MD, point-hunting draw.

Ooh! It's been a battle.
From a set down Soumeya levelled up.
Then, from 2-5* down in the final set, she's come back again to get in back on serve.
1-6 6-4 *4-5

Saved two match points, but could not complete the job
1-6 6-4 4-6
For a player that has specialised in doubles all year, and even before was a player with a very occasional schedule, this week is still a pretty good account.
Wonder what Soumeya will decide to do next!

You'd never teach a kid to play tennis like Soumeya (and I really wonder what her US college made of her) but she's a breath of fresh air to watch play - a real character - and I wish her huge success, and pleasure, in her tennis.
