Well, if Sam had to retire from her doubles final today it must throw her participation in next week's tournament into question, especially as the first round of two rounds of qualifying is tomorrow. At the moment there are 4 Brits in qualifying.
QR1: Ella TAYLOR (GBR) 1181 vs (q2) Priscilla HEISE (FRA)
QR1: (q13) Sarah Beth GREY (GBR) 777 vs (WC) Alpha AMBAYE (FRA) UNR
QR1: (q8) Emily WEBLEY-SMITH (GBR) 582 vs Lou ADLER (FRA) UNR (CH:1176 Jan 2015)
Emily is not going to enjoy this rematch as she lost to Lou relatively easily in her only qualifying match last week. Ella's opponent was beaten by Beth in the first round of the main draw.

Heise and Adler have been talked about before (see Cherbourg).
Alpha Ambaye is the player who's been mentioned in the British Tour events (along with her sister Mir). The two girls are half-British (or even maybe wholly British but grew up in France - I've only met the father). I believe that they had aspirations for professional tennis at one point but they're a long way off the level (IMHO). A walk in the park for Beth.
Irys Ekani is a new name to me. Ranked -15. A decent enough results sheets, (about 30 wins and 30 losses), with wins over Klaartje Liebens, Clem Fayol, Kinnie Laisne, being the standout victories but a lot of 'minor' results and losses to lower ranked players too. No trouble for Sam IF she's at full fitness.....

The injury causing retirement in dubs final at Cherbourg yesterday was apparently to Sam's partner.
Shame for Thandi, hope she's OK, but good to know that Sam's fine (although that means there was no 'excuse' for losing to Julie Gervais, of course, just that Gervais was better on the day).
Sara Beth will be feeling pretty good at having lost just 12 points. Until, perhaps, she discovers that's not even the fewest points lost by a GB woman in a full match today, given Tiffany's 11 pointer!
Still, well done
Brits 2-1 in France, with Sam to wrap things up later.
