Well done Naomi. Great to see her stringing some wins together.

Ms. Broady takes to court. Good luck!
Given what Puerto Rico has been through, with the hurricanes and subsequent 'political shenanigans', if Pica does prevail, at lwast it will give them a little sliver of light; of course, they won't hear about it for weeks until the power is restored...

What I mean is: come on Naomi!

Not the best opening set Naomi has ever played. Service stats seem to be getting worse with each match but I am not sure if that is due to the stronger opposition or through fatigue as with all of the qualifying matches Naomi has been on court a lot over the past 2 weeks. Anyway 6-0 Puig, time to start the comeback!

Naomi holds an approximate 10 deuce game to finally get on the board and then slams two backhand return winners in a row to break. 0-6 *2-3

Puig served for it at 5-3 and that appears to have woken Naomi up. Lucky escape as she saved a ton of BPs but you have to think she is in with a great chance now as Puig is going to be wondering how on earth she is not already in the locker room.

Amazing! It looked like double bakery, maybe even double bagel for a while there.
Go Naomi!

This is actually very similar to that match in Montreal last year.

Naomi could barely stand up by the end. Nothing left in the tank after 3 matches in qualifying then 3 main draw matches.

She certainly fought hard while she had some energy left. Her standard of play was abysmal for the first hour then reasonable for a while in the 2nd set.

Puig played exceptionally well in the first nine games-missed very little. Naomi looked knackered when she was 3-0 down in the second set,so to win it[the set] was a great effort. Then tiredness told...

Rats
But...
Well done Naomi, best week in ages, and made great capital from her second chance - she played some cracking stuff against Lisicki, in particular.

Heather next up on the same court.

Heather loses the first set 4-6

Not convinced about Lloyd Glasspool's coaching expertise.....
