Not sure if it was mentioned on any other threads, but Anna was on the entry list to a Portuguese W15 (well done the alt list of course), but withdrew 2 days ago, but possibly signs of a comeback?
Should bring this up to date, too, to say mega congrats to Anna who won the 25k title in Georgia last week and, as of 6th June, is now +231 to WR 511 in the WTA rankings.
I have no info, but I assumed it was an injury. Whether that has then led to her quitting remains to be seen. I see no reason why she should just quit otherwise, at least from a sporting perspective. She had a successful year last year, with the potential to make more progress this year. She played 3 tournaments in January and didn't get any wins from them. Her last 2 tournaments she lost to players ranked in the 700s so could indicate there was an issue hampering her. She'll lose her last points and her ranking at the beginning of November, the question, if it is an injury, will be whether she has the motivation to build her ranking back from nothing again although she will have a protected ranking to help her if she does.
Domestically, she entered a club competition in June but gave a walkover and is on the list of players for her club in a local Scottish league but hasn't played. That probably doesn't help in giving any clues as to whether she is injured or walked away from the pro game or sport entirely.
Hopefully she'll be back. It seems a shame to put all that effort in to come back with success to just then walk away.
