48 points to 1, a DF !  And 12 ( so half ) of his serves were DFs.

On the other end of bizarre, just a little shout out to Jacques Moers - AGE 48 !!! - who has just beaten a German less than half his age (21 years old), ranked 1582.

Ed Corrie is in the main draw, as 7th seed, and will get a qualifier in R1.

Tristan Lamasine is top seed (who Ed beat in week 37), in Ed's quarter.

Ed and Tristan are playing together in the doubles.

R1: (7) Ed Corrie (GBR) WR 355 v (q) Constantin Bittoun Kouzmine (FRA) UNR, born 1999, JWR 25 (JCH 18)

Bittoun Kouzmine is a slightly strange profile of French player - chose to go to the Junior US Open instead of playing nationals (didn't really pay off - lost in R1), and has only played one adult event this year, even though he is doing tennis full time because he got his Bac one year early. (Don't think he's been injured because he's played a lot of juniors). He raised some money crowd funding to go to South America and play juniors - which worked quite well in terms of results but it hasn't converted to much once he got back.

In singles, Ed served for the first set at 5-4 but ended up losing the set 5-7 ::((

The young Frenchman scored 8 more points so the score seems fair - but Ed had 8 break points and only managed to covert 2 (as against to 3 out of 5 for CBK).

Wouldn't put it past Ed to stage another comeback though (and youngsters often can't manage to sustain the level). So here's hoping....

Ed was two breaks up in the second.

Then one.

And now it's 5-5......

Ed lost the second in a tie break. Shame but a good couple of weeks with expenses paid.

Oh well, he's had such a good run these past two weeks that it seems a bit churlish to grump because he couldn't quite get this one but...

R1: (7) Ed Corrie (GBR) WR 355 lost to (q) Constantin Bittoun Kouzmine (FRA) UNR, born 1999, JWR 25 (JCH 18) 7-5 7-6(6)

(Add: pretty much ditto to the jester above.... smile)
