In Changwon in mid May, Freya beat Ahn, 4 & 3.
Freya was in pretty poor form (and possibly fitness given subsequent disclosures) at the time.
Hopefully that's a true indicator of Ahn's potential, and Katy's chances.

QR1: (q9) Katy Dunne WR 280 beat (qwc) Yu Jin Ahn (KOR) WR 964 (CH 931 in June) 7-5 6-1
FQR: (q9) Katy Dunne WR 280 vs (q3) Luksika Kumkhum (THA) WR 155 (CH 85 in October 2014)
As CD says Katy has 55 points from four counters to drop off in October. But before that once her interesting combination of 12 points from her recent 15K title and at least 12 points from here are added she will almost certainly take out her February CH 265.
R32: Heather WATSON (GBR) 78 v. Sara SORRIBES TORMO (ESP) 92 (CH 79, August 2017)
Sorribes Torm is on a 3 match losing streak, all on Hard courts. Prior to that though, she did reach the SF in Gstaad, albeit on clay.

Katy started well, with a break.
Then lost 5 games in a row.
Then broke.
But did not hold her serve at all in set 1 - winning only 13% of second serve points, with 5 DF. That's all a big handicap to give yourself against a player of Kumkhum's pedigree.
2-6

Bah that was one to forget, but I'm glad she took a punt at this level. She's good friends (according to social media) with Pri Hon, and both have had some good results this year in doubles on the ITF circuit (separately), so hopefully they can win a round here.
Heather lost the 1st set 6-3 , bagelled Sorribes Tormo in the 2nd but then went a double break down in the 3rd She has just got one of the breaks back though, 3-6 6-0 *1-3
18 dfs so far (5 from Heather, 13 from SST), Heather has taken 6 out of 6 bps, SST 5 out of 8.

Heather got broken again right away and got broken again for the match despite saving at least 2 match points:
L32: Heather Watson WR 78 lost to Sara Sorribes Tormo (ESP) WR 93 (CH 79 in Aug) by 6-3 0-6 6-1
You wouldn't have thought she was playing an opponent who was on a 3-match losing streak - or maybe you would have, given the Spaniard's 13 double faults and 0-6 record trying to save bps.
