The doubles is played first, if one team has won two matches they take the doubles point. The other match is suspended so they can get on with the singles where the remains 6 points are at stake.

Great achievement by Erin Richardson making both the singles and doubles in the NCAA tournament as a freshman. Also hats off to Paul Jubb who got close both ended up playing at No 1 for strong programmes in arguably the strongest conference the SEC.

Tsk tsk.... you keep getting your Erin's and Eden's mixed up!!  (And they're not related..)

Twice! so sorry to both. Didnt get much sleep last night had pull a late one to knock out some work for a big day today.

#15 Stanford now in the final 4! Beating #7 Georgia (always a decent programme) 4-0. Emily didnt finish her doubles but cliniched the tie with her singles win at no 4.

They play #3 Duke who beat Texas Tech 4-1. Tech took the doubles point Sabrina Federici won her doubles beating #9 team, she lost her singles up against #28. Lana Rush list her doubles. Not a bad run for Tech, Duke are a power house with two of their doubles teams ranked in the top 10 nationally and 5 of their 6 singles players nationally ranked.

It will be a great semi with two well matched teams going head to head despite the difference in rankings. Stanfords strength at 4,5 and 6 perhaps the key. Emily will be up against #28 Kelly Chen their second highest ranked player but in the no4 slot.

How does the level of div1 college tennis compare to level of a Brit tour?

London tennis tube has a video of 1st round Brit tour @ Worthing of Lamar Bartley vs Freddie Grant who plays 5/6 for Grand Canyon Uni (6-3, 6-3 win to Lamar who won the Tour overall)

It is very variable have a look at the British Tour 2017 thread. Half way through Josh Goodall posted some interesting comments having played at Frinton against a number of British tour players.
You will see some big names playing the final when the prize money on offer was good, Liam Broady, Ed Corrie both Challenger regulars and Lloyd Glasspool (NCAA doubles champion at Texas) to name a few.

Generally I would put it at at about back court level in the power conferences, the really deep programmes UCLA for example you have players who went deep in ITF futures events playing at no 3. I would expect someone like Ricky Hernandez-Tong to do well in a British Tour event. He has done well played number 1 at New Mexico division 1 school decent conference but not a power programme.

Georgia Tech take on Vanderbilt in the other semi-final. Emily Smith playing in the doubles for Vandy Securing the doubles point with a 6-3 win in their 4-0 victory over Florida State. Georgia Tech beat UCLA who I think were the weakest QF ist to get the other slot. Vandy have had a fairly easy run and I expect another 4-0 win in the SF. Duke v Stanford too close to call. Should be an interesting couple of days.

Thank you Oakland for taking time to reply and almost encyclopaedic knowledge of the site!

The post from Josh Goodhall made interesting reading, not just from the point of view of answering my question.

Seeing how well Duke has done has made me investigate Ema Lazic's record there.  She joined as a freshman this academic year and I really rated her as an older junior.  However, she has not played at all in the conference season, only playing during the tournament season in the autumn.  It may be that she has joined such a strong program that there is no room in the lineup for her until next year but I'm sure she will have been disappointed sitting on the bench.  Her W/L in singles in the autumn was 4/5 and dubs 3/4.  Not brilliant but she had on the whole reasonable quality opponents.  It will be interesting to see whether she features next year or whether she moves on.

I expected great things from Ema too, she was a top 100 junior and even in a strong programme you would expect her to feature. I wondered whether or not she was injured?

Stanford beat Duke to make the NCAA final (Emily Arbuthnot makes it 2 finals in 2 years). Emily lost her doubles 6-3 to the #9 seeds. She was also in a real battle against Dukes second highest ranked player into a third set when the contest finished, they meet Vanderbilt in the final. Stanford lost to them early this season on the road but are now fully fit withelissa Lord in at no 2.

The womens NCAA Team Final looks a very one sided affair given this years statistics with the No. 1 seed up against No. 15 however the reality is it is too close to call.

This how things planned out in February

#2 Vanderbilt 7, #1 Stanford 0

1. Astra Sharma (VANDY) def. #13 Michaela Gordon (STAN) 3-6, 6-3, 6-3
2. #4 Fernanda Contreras (VANDY) def. #22 Emily Arbuthnott (STAN) 6-1, 6-4
3. #19 Christina Rosca (VANDY) def. #69 Caroline Lampl (STAN) 3-6, 6-0, 6-2
4. Emma Kurtz (VANDY) def. Emma Higuchi (STAN) 7-6 (7-3), 7-5
5. #96 Summer Dvorak (VANDY) def. Janice Shin (STAN) 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (7-5)
6. Amanda Meyer (VANDY) def. Kimberly Yee (STAN) 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-5)

1. Astra Sharma/Fernanda Contreras (VANDY) def. #4 Michaela Gordon/Emily Arbuthnott (STAN) 6-3
2. #43 Emily Smith/Emma Kurtz (VANDY) vs. Kimberly Yee/Caroline Lampl (STAN) 5-5, unfinished
3. Amanda Meyer/Christina Rosca (VANDY) def. Janice Shin/Emma Higuchi (STAN) 6-1

How do you reverse a 7-0 loss?? Put out a different team.

Stanford now line up differently with Stanfords star performer of last year back in the line up and all 6 players nationally ranked. Meyer has moved up from 6 to 4 for Vandy.

1. #15 Gordon . Same position as Feb.... went to three sets ..... Fernandez #11 v GTech
2. #40 Lord Did not play                                                  .....   Contreras #10 v GTech
3. #93 Lampl. Same position as Feb..... went to three sets. .....  Rosca #44 v GTech
4. #44 Arbuthnot . Played No 2.                                         ......Meyer moved up from 6 v GTech
5. #96 Shin. Same position........went to three sets            ......  Kurtz dropped from 4 v  GTech
6. #102 Higuchi.....Played at No. 4 lost in two close sets       ..... Dvorak dropped from 5 v GTech

1. Gordon/Arbuthnot .... lost 6-3
2. Lampl/Yee....... did not finish
3. Lord/Shin...... new team

Great site - NOT ! Seems to be working in a different time-zone.

Stanford and Emily Arbuthnot are NCAA champions beating Vandy 4-3.

Emily lost a three setter and Stanford also lost the doubles point.
