AEGON Womens Team Tennis Finals

The AEGON Team Tennis Finals will take place at West Hants Club in Bournemouth from Friday 8th-Sunday 10th September. Competing clubs include the four national divisional winners: Edgbaston Priory, Holcombe Brook, University of Bath and Wilton-winners in 2015 and 2016. The other four finalists came through the play-offs: Cumberland, David Lloyd Raynes Park, Taunton (first time qualifiers) and West Hants. Admission is free and the team format makes for really exciting days of competitive tennis involving highly-ranked players.

Yes this can be a great event to watch and usually there's quite a few of our ranked players taking part.

(and it does explain the lack of entries into ITF's this week)

Wilton, David Lloyd Raynes Park, Cumberland and Edgbaston Priory win today and go through to the semis tomorrow.

Hosts West Hants Club narrowly lost to Raynes Park 6-7 with winner decided in a doubles shootout after both clubs were level 4 -4 after all matches and two singles 10 point tiebreaks. Notable wins for juniors Esther Adeshina against Katie O'Brien and Erin Richardson against Alice Gillian. Emma Raducanu also featured for Raynes Park. Good experience for the juniors.
Semis scheduled for 9.30am with Consolation not before 12.30pm

Great performance from Wilton-their third consecutive triumph in this competition. Beth has now beaten Emily Webley-Smith, Mel South, Katie O'Brien and Naomi Cavaday in the last 4 days!

Cav posted a picture of her team and I struggled to recognise the others. I know why now??? I've only ever seen Pippa Horn of the 3 play and that was a very long time ago....

Not to forget the three other matches on Wednesday and Thursday. Seven singles wins in five days - plus one doubles. Her break in the sun recently obviously worked wonders !

Frances Hendry is the one in the centre of her picture - was ranked many years ago (I would guess early or mid 2000s) though long since retired.
