Week 36 - France F18 ($25,000+H) - Bagnères-de-Bigorre (hard)

QR1:  Tommasi Metti (ITA) UNR vs Sizya Kivanda UNR (CH = 1800 in October 2015)

Freddie Nielsen's the top seed in qualies.  Lloyd is a couple of places above him in the qualies acceptance list.  Wonder if he's made it into the main draw & whether Oli, quite a long way down the "alts" list, will pop up with a wild card...

Lloyd is in the made draw alongside Ed Corrie.
No chance on Oli getting a wildcard here.

Nor sure how Ed managed to turn it round - until the decider:

Well done, Ed.

Mina is such a streaky player - great talent but goes majorly AWOL at times too. It looks like the second set TB was where the match played out. Now back to the hotel, and dinner, and to enjoy, knowing that it's a +H and all paid for

Lloyd is playing Geoff Blancaneaux, age 19, ex-JWR 5, and currently ATP WR 331.
Blancaneaux was given a wildcard into the US Open main draw (as part of the mutual agreement thingy between the two federations) but he got absolutely thrashed - won 4 games I think (ouch !) (against Sugita).
He's had a lot of success in ITFs, but nothing of much note any higher.
However, he's a 'great hope' of French young tennis, those whom the FFT pray will pick up the slack as the older lot drop away.
And certainly got potential.
He's taken the first set off Lloyd 6-3

Looks like it's going to need another almighty turnaround from Ed...

Currently down 0-5

The Spaniard he's playing is yet another top junior (CH 11) who never really made it in adult tennis (ATP CH 293, currently 567, age 23).
