Yes, CD. Liam was WR 345 on the relevant date, 31/07, so a couple of weeks before his Aptos RU result really jumped him up the rankings.

Neal is in the main draw at the US Open, but not playing with Ken.

Oops think I might have misread the entries thread for w/c 21/8, Naomi's fault for having retained her birth surname disbelief

Thanks, Bob.

I haven't got round to listening to the interviews yet. So I must !

But great to hear that they're working together and, as you say, very successfully so far, too.

The interview in which he talks about Dave Sammel is here

Just follow the links.  It comes across as an extremely honest and mature interview with Liam talking about his rise and fall - and rise again.  The bit relating to Dave Sammel is between minutes 3 and 4.  The interview is definitely worth a listen.

 Cheers, Bob.

Just done it - as you say very honest, very frank, and very listenable.

Thanks Bob, a very good interesting listen.

And it them actually rolled on into an interview with Cam after his Binghamton triumph. I hadn't heard that before either so all good.

I had a listen to that. A few thoughts:

Liam didn't talk about frequently erupting on court, or his stroppy behavior as someone else put it. No word that he went away and identified that calmness and not losing it during matches is part of success. Because that new calmness on court is a big part if his current success. He already knew how to hit the tennis ball. For players with his sort of 'weaponless' game, mental attitude and consistency are key.

Are we to assume that new Liam is all down to the new coach. Has the coach been intructing him on meditation or something related. It was less than a 10 minute interview. I would be interested to hear more on what he thinks on such topics.

Yes - I know the Tennis Podcast is supposed to be more than just British tennis but it would be good for them to throw in the odd longer interview with younger or emerging British players. Helps not just in terms of player insight but also how the Federation works and supports.

That is Neal equalling his CH 69 achieved at different times in 2014, first on 31st March.

Still of course great to see, particularly as a result of that recent Wimbledon QF and now challenger titles with different partners over the last two weeks.

Wonder where Ken has got to. Not been seen since World Team Tennis and not competitively with Neal since these wonderful Wimbledon days. I am sure I read somewhere that Neal is entered into the US Open without Ken, not sure with whom.

Neal was 55th entry with Duran (new partnership?) and Ken was 59th with Millman, just missing out (57 direct entries I am told?),

If Neal and Ken had entered together they would have missed out also so Neal playing with someone higher was pragmatic solution I guess

I am sure there will be dropouts, so hope Ken gets in.  I wonder if his choice of partner has anything to do with his favourite football team as I believe Millman is also a big Liverpool fan.

Thanks Jon, I had wondered that a Skupski combined ranking might not be good enough but I was also wondering about Ken seeming to have disappeared off the scene lately.

Good to see him trying to get in too with Millman and I hope he yet manages it.
