After a tight start in which Jay broke in 4th game, held in marathon 5th and was then broken in 7th to bring the match back on serve, Jay stepped on the gas and coasted home 6-3 6-0.

So make the final and should break into the top 300
... at a very slightly younger age than Evo and Kyle. Winning the title would make sure.
Kyle did get to WR 307 more than 3 months before his 19th birthday but no British male has reached the top 300 before 19. Evo and Kyle were 40 odd days after their 19th birthdays and Jay will at best just miss out too.

Oops, I certainly meant to say "no British male since Andy ..." and I actually had his stats which I may as well add here now. Anyway, glad someone was paying attention !
Andy entered the top 300 (WR 213) after his first senior Wimbledon 2005, aged 18 years and 50 days, was top 200 (WR 164) two weeks later after he won the Aptos Challenger and on his 19th birthday was WR 46 with a CH 41.
It just emphasises how good he is, not to include him when considering the performance of mere mortals is an easy mistake to make.
That is not in anyway a negative judgement on the mere mortals under discussion, we have a chance of creating some depth to British tennis with regular qualification for GS MD as the gold standard and involvement of British players in the second weeks of slams as a marker of excellence.
To quote from one of SC's favorite albums "you don't know what you've got til it's garn"

Jay has indeed missed out as he turns 19 today, not that missing out on this milestone really matters.
I don't know the album in question, but, on the assumption that 'garn' was intended to represent an American pronunciation, had rather thought the comment might be a friendly reference to your well-known fondness for all aspects of American popular culture
Hope that Mr Clarke indeed has a happy birthday - and thanks to all for pointing out how impressive his accomplishments are and how they relate to those of others. Very good news.
