Message on Twitter today: "I'm starting to worry a little about Amanda C. that's 3 months since she last played & there's no sign of her in the next weeks!!"
I've been wondering too and I doubt I'm the only one on here. A little bit of digging unearthed the news that she has had a hip operation and by December was doing recovery in a swimming pool - see http://bit.ly/1ezSd3A
In the same vein as skibbarriz, here's an article from the beginning of this year that provides some background on Mandy Carreras. I see she is also still lined up for a start in Prague next week, so I hope she is now finally coming through her wrist injury too that put her out of the grass court season. From this article, and given the ranking she had, she probably would have liked to have been able to compete during it...
Such a pity Mandy got so close to getting into French Open qualifying this year and with injury allowing her no sort of start to the qualifying period for 2018 is now probably looking at 2019 for that. All the best to her.
I see Gibraltar is hosting the Island Games in 2019. I guess that it is a political island ...
Good luck to her - I suspect she will just want to get back all the rankings she's lost whilst shes been injured - she will need some good results at 25k or above to get back to her CH. But, she is a tryer
So as Steven has posted, Mandy's wrist has flared up again and she is now having an op on 14 Nov in Barcelona. Good luck to her and recovery over the coming months... Hope we may see her back to fuller wrist health later in 2018. It's been a very difficult year for Mandy after a promising start, so hope she is able to return to full playing in the future.
An early March interview with Mandy, found by Redsquirrel. States it will take her at least half a year to come back after her surgery in mid-November...
Unfortunately it would appear Mandy has had another wrist operation, or her recovery has been severely hampered. Here's a picture of her end of March with her wrist looking like it is back in a plaster cast and her arm in a sling... I hope she is eventually able to recover fully
