Week 29 - ATP 250 - Dell Technologies Hall of Fame Open - Newport, RI (clay)

Is this on clay now? How long has this been the case!

I'm not surprised they removed the grass after Wimby 99% of players are sick of grass and the prospect of going to the usa the week after!. Did Greg not win this 5 times or something silly?

One of the poorest ATP 250's out there, I remember one year at Newport, Bogdanovic was a seed! Is more like a challenger tbh.

Well maybe more players should be recognising what an opportunity it may present including Brits. But only Brydan here.

Yes I'm confused by the lack of Brits here given a few are in the states and Canada. Remember Richard Bloomfield doing well here so much so that there were all sorts of speculation about some of the results.

I think Brydan served 3 DFs to be broken in the final game. It was at least 2 of his total of 7. He won just 10 points in that second set. I don't know if Brydan is one to sometimes just let sets go that when they look rather unwinnable.

Can't say I'm entirely surprised at that result.  no

It was a typo in the original heading

Actually do agree timing of this event is all wrong. Should be week after Paris alongside rosmalen and stuttgart. All the US players are back home ad they're out of Paris and would play it as a starter to the grass season. After Wimbledon it just sits awkwardly like someone who has turned up at a party uninvited

Perspective, is that this is a challenger not a real ATP 250.

Whilst I agree the field isn't as strong as a lot of tour events, I haven't seen John Isner (who beat Ebden in the final) play that many challengers wink
