But he had to retire today, leaving Tom with (on paper) a very playable R2 match.

Yay, I didn't know when to look in again in case he was say *13-12 in the TB and lost that point.
2 points so far here puts Tom onto 11 points for Monday week and provisionally* back into the top 25, rather helpfully breaking up a logjam that had developed for positions 25-28 of himself, Luke Johnson, Ali Gray and Ewan Mooore all on 10 points.
