Are the differences between actual rankings and the Wimbledon rankings normally this significant? Quite an impact for Djokovic (positive), Federer (positive), Wawrinka (negative), Müller (positive), Sock (negative).

I'm unable to speak with any authority in response to your question, Spectator - I'll leave that to the more clued-up members of this board - but I've now added this week's rankings after the players' names so that people can see at a glance what you're driving at.

Seeds #2 to #4 actually come out very close according to the calcs I did the other day in the "Battle for the top thread" - sticky at the top of the Andy Murray section.

1. Murray 11930
2. Djokovic 7395
3. Federer 7385
4. Nadal 7319
5. Wawrinka 6490

Main boosts there apart from for Andy :
Djokovic - 75% of his Wimbledon title 2000 points from 2015.
Federer - 100% of his Halle title 500 points from last week ( so he basically added 1000 overall for Wimbledon seeding last week ) and his Wimbledon SF 720 points from last year plus 75% of his Wimbledon RU 1200 points from 2015.

From the Wimbledon web site:

Gentlemen's Seeding Formula

The seeds are the top 32 players on the ATP Ranking list, BUT then rearranged on a surface-based system. Since 2002 a seeding committee has not been required for the Gentlemens Singles following an agreement made with the ATP. The seeding order is determined using an objective and transparent system to reflect more accurately an individual players grass court achievements. It is based on giving additional credit for grass court performance in the two year period immediately before the date used for seeding for The Championships. The formula is:

- Take the ATP Ranking points at 26 June 2017
- Add 100% of the points earned for all grass court tournaments in the immediate past 12 months period prior to 26 June 2017.
- Add 75% of the points earned for the best grass court tournament in the 12 months prior to that.

Stuart Fraser reporting the following for Murray:

R1: Qualifier/Lucky loser
R2: Sousa/Brown
R3: Fognini
R4: Pouille/Kyrgios
QF: Wawrinka
SF: Nadal
F: Djokovic/Federer

Could be a lot worse than that.

Hoping that Murray's R1 qualifier/LL opponent is NOT Alex Ward.
