I ll take 3/8 wins as well, 3,1,1 breakdown Gabi, Katy and Tara going through. Then just Gabi after that to qualify as well.

You're still favouring Gabi then Jaggy? I like that! smile smile

Although Alison Van Uytvanck impressed me at Manchester and is one of the best players in the draw it might prove a good time to play her, as she lost the Ilkley final to Magdalena Rybarikova on Sunday, so might be mentally flat tomorrow.

Harriet opens up on the televised/streamed show court (Liam v Marcus on later)

Yes I am, I like her game out of all the young guns she's the one to watch from my limited viewing of seeing them all a few times.

A tough series of draws. Tara may make it through but I don't expect any of the others to do so.

Holding out for two wins.

BBC / Wimbledon site streaming a Roehampton court may mean we see some of it.

I think it's disgusting she should have been in the main draw. Robson has done nothing at Wimbledon since she was injured but goes into the main draw why?

I've no problem with Laura being in the MD, in fact I very much like what I'm seeing now, but yes Tara should have got the WC as well. Tara has never had a good relationship with the LTA for any period of time, so there may be stuff going on off the court which has influenced the decision, but yes on the surface 100% wrong call.

Never realised that Tara had not a good relationship with LTA but it can't be any worse than Naomi Broady's relationship with them

I know the draw has not come out yet, but i figured I'd start a thread anyway. I guess this will be as good a place as any for draws and results.

I'm going Tuesday and have a spare ticket. Does anybody want it? I'm not looking for any money, would just be nice to see it go to a good home. Do feel free to buy me an ice cream though....

My predictions are 4 to go through Round One - Tara, Katie, Katy and Eden.

Horrible draws for Harriet, Gabriella and Maia, and tough for Freya too.

If Tara comes through, then probably she has two tough matches after that against Liu and Duque Marino, but if she can overcome Liu, I think she will make it: Liu is a tough one to call I think, but my money is on Tara to scrape home.

Katy probably has too many good players inher part of the draw to make it - Van Uytvanck in particular, but you never know; Eden has a really great draw and I think she could pull off a shock and make it to the final qualifying round, and I think she could be joined by Katie Swan, but she would probably then have a nightmare opponent in Taylor Townsend.

So my prediction is Tara to go through, and Eden and Katie Swan to go very close.

Yeah doesn't look good! What I never understand with these tournaments is why when the weather is forecast they don't start earlier to try and get through some games. Is Friday a backup day?

Gabi and Eden are the two least favoured by Ladbrokes, with 4/1 available on Eden. Tara/Katy/Harriet are roughly the same price, small odds against, and Katie is our only one favoured to win. Freya and Maia are also given little chance although more of a chance than Gabi and Eden.

We will be lucky if we get one GB winner.
As for Tara, she has had lots of run ins with the LTA and shown no form. Correct call - qwc.

Firstly, the LTA didn't give Tara anything, no QWC; she is in qualifying as of right - direct acceptance.
Second, run ins with the LTA aren't a valid factor, just one example, Evans had plenty of them in the past, still got the WC.
Third, not showing form aren't a valid factor either. Laura Robson got one each of the last two years, when she was playing awfully (once mitigated by just returning).

This is the LTA picking favourites and playing politics with their gifts. If Laura Robson were in the same position, she'd get one. She will get one regardless of anything else from now until she retires, if she wants one.
If Tara has consistently been treated like this behind the scenes throughout her career, it's hardly surprising that she would have 'run ins' with those that treated her like that. I'm not pretending she's perfect, or that on occasion that she doesn't express herself undiplomatically, but she's always done her bit, too. Fed Cup whenever required, tireless promotion for all the Rally for Bally events, and so on.
Within the framework of caveats that, no one (apart from Laura Robson) is inherently entitled to a MDWC, Tara has every right to be aggrieved, like none I can recall in recent memory.

I will take 3 to get through QR1 - Katy, Tara and Katie.

I'd like to have said Gabi, and most possible draws would have, but I don't see her getting past Van Uytvanck. Could be a very good match though.

I do hope Tara, conqueror of said Van Uytvanck in the main draw last year does well and again agree a great deal of what blob said above even if her form of late has been disappointing. Falconi relatively high ranked as she has been still looks as of now a good draw on grass. Going through to the main draw though I have real doubts.

Harriet and Gabi next most likely QR1 winners after the three I have gone with.
