Week 24 - ATP 250 - Mercedes Cup, Stuttgart, Germany (grass)

The Bryans are the top seeds.

Not a great draw. Lindstedt (witness his many Wimbledon finals) is quite decent on grass.

Change of plan for the second seeds:  wink

It gets better:

L16:  (2) Jamie Murray & Bruno Soares (BRA) CR 17 (8+9) "defeated" (ALT) Marco Chiudinelli & Frank Moser (SUI/GER) CR 713 (138+575) by a walkover

Looks like they are having one of those weeks that only Novak seems to get eg US Open 2016!

QF:  (2) Jamie Murray & Bruno Soares (BRA) CR 17 (8+9) defeated Brian Baker & Nikola Mektic (USA/CRO) CR 82 (33+49) by 6-4 6-7(8) [10-8]

I feared the worst for a while there!  At least they've now got a few games on grass under their belts before they take on Matkowski & Mirnyi or Haas & Mayer (who despatched the third seeds, Mergea & Qureshi, in three sets yesterday) in the semi-final.

Decent win I think. I've been kind of looking for Baker & Mektic ( his normal partner these days ) to come really big, how the end of last year was going. Maybe I partly kind of want it after all Brian's been through.

Soares was pretty poor but they just about deserved it on balance.

Tommy Haas just ditched Federer out in his first match - guess Rog is still ring rusty but good for Haas in his last few events before quitting the game.

Hehe, so Rog lost to a 39 year old ranked 302. Wonder if the Swiss press will make a big story of this.

Who would begrudge Haas a win at home when he's 39 and in his last year on the tour? Very glad for him.

Haas & Mayer gave Matkowski & Mirnyi a walkover, so:

SF:  Marcin Matkowski & Max Mirnyi (POL/BLR) CR 90 (42+48) vs (2) Jamie Murray & Bruno Soares (BRA) CR 17 (8+9)
