Agreed - though I was a bit nervous about this one.

I think it was a fair result.

From the off Denis was playing that bit better than Kyle, and had a bigger serve and backhand. He was also going for his shots more. Kyle didn't play particularly badly, but didn't step up or seem to get fired up when needed, or use the crowd.

I hope Kyle can play next week and get some more grass time, and I'd love Denis to get a Wimby WC on the back of that. I know he lost it at DC, but he is an up and coming talent.

Doesn't last year's Junior Wimbledon champion get a WC by right ?

Kyles not a grass court player I think it's fair to say. Reckon if he played Marcus, Liam, Ed or Lloyd they'd match him if not beat him.

To be fair to Kyle, Shapovolov looked a great talent, i liked his game, a degree of flair, go for it strokes. Well done to him. Berdych next, hope Shapovolov can get through that one

Aljaz has withdrawn and been replaced by Australian, Jordan Thompson. The reason given is wrist injury.

Just announced on twitter
Aegon Championships @QueensTennis

Aljaz Bedene has been forced to withdraw from the #AegonChampionships because of a wrist injury. Jordan Thompson takes his place.

Edit Bob got there first. "Lucky Loser" (?) to play Murray

Qualifiers placed:

L32:  (WC) Cam Norrie WR 230 (= CH) vs Sam Querrey (USA) WR 27 (CH = 17 in January 2011)

L32:  (Q) Julien Benneteau (FRA) WR 94 (CH = 25 in November 2015) vs (WC) James Ward WR 1070 (CH = 89 in July 2015) - can't see Dino winning that one no

L32:  Kyle Edmund WR 44 (CH = 40 last October) vs (Q) Denis Shapovalov (CAN) WR 195

The lucky loser's spot went to PHH & he plays Chardy.

L32:  (1) Andy Murray WR 1 (= CH) vs (LL) Jordan Thompson WR 90 (CH = 63 in February)
