Quite surprised at seeing Kyle having to play qualies for a 250. Although only just it seems, being the top qualifying seed.

He entered too late for the main draw, his ranking would have got him in comfortably. He should get some good court time with qualies and maybe a round or two main draw, probably a good call

Strange, if not bizarre trolling.

Given the cut for the main draw is Radu Albot, how in the name of Barry Cowan's chafed left nipple do you think Kyle is "having" to play qualies as if his ranking wasn't sufficient.

Unless the point you are making that Kyle has played *like* a 100-150 ranker this year, in which case I am fully on board.

I say all this with the very greatest of respect, my dad is a clergyman too.

Till I die. I am afraid TID really is being used out of context here.

It really only has one use in tennis and the tennis aspect relates to the user not tennis i.e. Evo .... who can genuinely use and deliver it in the appropriate accent.

"Villa till I die"

It is a bit like God save the queen, the phrase has no meaning unless relating to Villa, otherwise it makes no sense at all. Just hyperbole.

Got it- so Jeff Stelling is just a guise to make us think the famous TV presenter is on this board
It's really tiger Tim in disguise!

As an aside why wasn't Tim at pippas wedding? Overlooked? Fed and Mirka got an invite!

Fed got an invite? Seriously? Is there an invite list somewhere? Who else made tennis royalty?

Kyle qualifies relatively (he dropped his service once in the second set & converted only three out of 10 break points) easily:

FQR:  (q1) Kyle Edmund WR 53 defeated (q6) Tennys Sandgren (USA) WR 115 by 3 & 4

That's a very good-looking set of Q spots really. Let's hope Kyle can make the most of the opportunity.

Qualifiers placed:

L32:  Thiago Monteiro (BRA) WR 98 (CH = 74 in February) vs (Q) Kyle Edmund WR 53

If he wins that one, he could meet Gilles Simon (5/WC) in the last 16.
