RE: Tennis Sponsors

I was just googling who Stephen Marks was (CEO of French Connection fashion) and found this, seems like a big scandal with the former head of tennis at Dukes Meadows.

Don't know any of the details of this case although I had heard that James Lenton had quit Dukes Meadows quite abruptly some while ago.  However, I do know quite a few kids who have been coached by him at one point or another.  All the families seemed to have the same opinion of him:  Likeable bloke, brilliant on-court coach, can talk the hind leg off a donkey, and one of the most disorganised people they have met.  Maybe a great choice for Head of Coaching but not Head of Tennis?  Either way, this episode is hardly a great advert for the tennis centre.  It sounds like he is now settled in Dubai so I hope he does well out there.  And I also hope the Academy at the tennis centre picks up, it is a venue with really great facilities - 5 or 6 good indoor hard courts, 4 or 5 really high quality clay courts.

Not tennis sponsorship, but an idea of why sponsorship required - costs to fund a competitive junior player, the figures are for the US but imagine similar here?? Apologies if someone already posted elsewhere

Noticed last night that Jamie's PlayBrave plain white polo shirt retails at £79
Andy's new Castore AMC (Andy Murray Collection) plain white polo shirt retails at £70

So a few tongue in cheek questions...

Who would pay £70 let alone £79 for a plain white polo shirt?
Is Jamie's brand name stronger than Andy's to justify the extra £9
Is PlayBrave's polo shirt £9 better quality than Andy's Castore one?
Are both of them comfortable with these polo shirts being priced at these ridiculous levels?
Why do unknown brands set ridiculous prices when no one has ever heard of them? Is it simply to portray an image of quality, even if no one ever buys them?

Not sure it's been put her before but the Peugeot Next-Gen players are:

Victoria Allen
Blu Baker
Armani Banks
Harry Wendelken

Good on Peugeot. Good luck to the four. And hope others get help too.

Still no sponsors for Team Tennis (now called National League) or the former HSBC Road to Wimbledon for the 2020 tennis season.

Just a shout out for Skillcrown

From their corporate blurb:

"Renowned for our innovative design, exceptional construction standards and superior customer care, Skillcrown creates stunning and sophisticated homes providing long-term affordable solutions as well as commercial and hospitality premises, across London and the South East"

More importantly to me, they've also sponsored Issey Purser (born 2004)

A mention for Boadicea Perfume who are major sponsors of the Premier Tour event at Sutton next week.

Prizes
Total prize money pot £14.3k. Enhanced Premier Tier prize money through sponsorship by Boadicea & club partners.

Boadicea Perfume also sponsor the Sutton club's Aegon team, from what I can see

Vodafone have signed a 5 year sponsorship deal with Wimbledon. They have signed Tim Henman and Laura Robson to be brand ambassadors and are in talks with Emma.

Vodafone has signed a multimillion pound deal to become the official connectivity partner of the grass court grand slam event, as well as a wide-ranging collaboration with the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club and the LTA to promote an increase in the numbers of people playing the game at all levels.

This is from 2020 but assuming it's still going on, well done to Royal Bank of Canada for helping young sports people

"Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) is supporting 50 of the most talented young British athletes through SportsAid
for the seventh consecutive year."

www.somersetasa.org/sasa/en/News/News-Items%27+target%3D%27_self%27%3E%5B...%5D%3C%2Fa%3E%3C%2Ftd%3E%3Ctd+valign%3D%27+target%3D%27_self%27%3E%5B...%5D%3C%2Fa%3E%3C%2Ftd%3E%3Ctd+valign%3D%27+target%3D%27_self%27%3E%5B...%5D%3C%2Fa%3E%3C%2Ftd%3E%3Ctd+valign%3D%27+target%3D%27_self%27%3E%5B...%5D%3C%2Fa%3E%3C%2Ftd%3E%3Ctd+valign%3D&pdfview=1

For the year 2020, this included two young tennis players,

Mika Stojsavljevic, 11, Acton (Tennis)

Dylan Van Rensburg, 12, Weybridge (Tennis)

Mika (age 13) has a wildcard into Liverpool J5 MD this week, and has just won her first match
