Tennis Sponsors

I couldn't find another thread specifically on this subject and it seems that the rare companies who do sponsor tennis should get a bit of a shout.

So, shout out for Brayleys (Car Dealerships) who in Feb. this year, sponsored young Josh Rose:

https://www.brayleys.co.uk/josh-rose

Good luck to Josh who made the QFs of the event in Nottingham last week and is top seed again this.

Very interesting, I should offer Brayleys a free entry into my corporate tennis competition this season.

I recently noticed Neil Pauffley announced a new sponsorship with Sergetti stringing (Marcus seems to already be signed to them) and a kit deal with Mizuno Tennis.

Do the British Future events receive company sponsorship?

That's a great idea, Born2. (Or invite them to the finals as 'active tennis sponsors'?)

Even if they don't have a team, it's always nice to be asked. And someone at the place must like tennis !

I don't know about ITFs but I know that the Sutton British Tour event gets significant corporate sponsorship (that must be in your London-ish catchment area too, for your corporate team event, isn't it? Or are you more north, Herts/Middlesex?)

Have just gone and looked them up so the right guys get the credit and it's Thomas International who are the main sponsors:

www.stscsport.co.uk/sutton-tennis-squash-club-secures-record-sponsorship-for-2015-thomas-international-open-tennis-tournament/

Also, the club says:

"We are delighted that Thomas International are once again the lead sponsor for this event and they have been supported by Boadicea the Victorious, Harley Medical, Redhills, ICB Group, MRFS Group, Vineking & Babolat."

So hats off to all the sponsors listed.

The sponsorship at Sutton enables them to offer double the prize money. They run a great event and had a very good turnout last year - I fully intend to go at least one day this summer.

I'm never around to go in summer but I met the President of the club at another event and he was a really nice guy and welcoming and friendly (and had some very 'interesting insights' about the LTA) so I would definitely support the event if I could.
Enjoy, the addict !

Ah I just checked online and Mike Walker seems to have left Thomas International, I wonder how key he was to their sponsorship decision, he looks like an ex-Davis Cup player. Anyway I can be sure to offer Thomas International a free entry too. My corporate tennis event is Central London and I'm also creating a Birmingham division this year.

Whilst under the AEGON banner, i'm not sure any corporate sponsors have added value to the overall prize money. However, I believe there is an opportunity this season for one event to move from a 15k to 25k. Whether it happens or not is still up in the air.

Next season, the sponsorship is gone, so opportunities will arise, whether that be a sponsor for all futures or individual sponsors per event.

Excellent, a PR person with a love of tennis, more the merrier. It looks like a last minute decision as the little Lendy logos on their tops look stuck on.

A1 Pharmaceuticals Plc  1 year sponsorship of neil Pauffley  ends in September 2017 after the national Aegon finals although he will still play NCL for A1 Pharmaceuticals Lawn tennis club . Although it helped Neil maintain and improve his 2015/16 ranking and he had his best Wimbledon qualifiers we were unable to push on beyond previous PB rankings . Funding from sergetti is minimal around £1000-1500 pa although they provide strings and it all helps

we are considering a number of new tennis player sponsorship opportunities the idea is that it's normally for 1 year as a kick start and in marcus case was prolonged because it was clearly working .

One  sort of tennis sponsorship that I have recently agreed is to be a key corporate sponsor of Lt Scott Sears ( brother of kim Sears ) 1100 km unaided trek to the South Pole which aims to raise £50,000 + for the Gurkha welfare fund . The Gurkha welfare fund build and repair houses for retired Gurkhas . Its a sponsorship that came about because we competed v a Sussex club in NCL that a young Scott Sears represented . Scott is a graduate of sandhurst and a platoon commander in the Gurkha rifles . Other directors of A1 Pharmaceuticals were keen because of the loyalty of the Gurkhas but it was felt that Scott would also be proactive in promoting his sponsors .

I am keen to sponsor tennis players because it's my passion but other directors of the company have been critical of the lack of PR raised by the players themselves and felt Scott's charitable campaign was a more worthwhile cause .

when Scott completes the 1100km expedition he will be the youngest man to walk to the South Pole unaided .

I was keen to support this charity in memory of my favourite uncle Harry lewis ( Royal engineers ) who was captured by the Japanese at Singapore in Feb 1942 and suffered torture , starvation and disease in the FEPOW camps along the river  Kwai when building the Burma-siam death railway . They were beaten but unbroken in spirit . Please support the Gurkha welfare fund . Many of our pro tennis players would do well to emulate the fighting spirit of the legendary Gurkha's and the FEPOW

born to win tennis : would consider an A1 Pharmaceuticals corporate entry if we could use it as an opportunity to raise awareness of scott Sears campaign to raise funds for Gurkha welfare fund and a several cancer charities include McMillan cancer that we support at a corporate level

We are into the knockout rounds now Gary, so it would have to be for next year, but it would be great to have an A1 Pharma team on-board. Happy to give you a free entry since it's for charity.

From Oakie's post on another thread:

"It will be interesting to see how Jack goes this being his first tournament since a very successful Shrewsbury. Just been reading the Shrewsbury programme compliments of "Budgens Motors" a glossy affair, obviously they have made a real effort to provide some information for spectators puts Wimbledon quali's to shame!"

Well done, Budgen Motors !

At a different level, and sorry if reported elsewhere on this forum, but Fevertree the tonic water brand are new sponsors of Queens. Didn't see that coming.

Great thread CD. Real admiration for B2W commitment to it and the corporate league which actually may be away of directing tennis enthusiasts with the will to support futures tennis in the U.K. I actually think it may have some positive imact we should all definitely try and highlight organisations and individuals who put their hands in their pockets for grass roots tennis.

I don't know whether we could go one step further is there is the capacity to tweet posts saying thank you under a British Tennis.Net fans forum umbrella? We need a bit of thinking about re verification but a thought.
