Week 17 - WTA Premier ($711K) - Stuttgart, Germany - Clay, Indoor

QR1: Naomi BROADY (GBR) 124 v. Natalia VIKHLYANTSEVA (RUS) 78

If Naomi wins, it could set up a very 'interesting' rematch with a certain fiery young Latvian...

Could be fun if that occurs. Given my views about the previous occasion I might have difficulty as to who to support  evileye

But I fully support Naomi for QR1

Naomi lost in straight sets unfortunately.

Ps I see the Porsche Arena is being used for Fed Cup tie this weekend, Germany v Ukraine. Does that mean qualies use a different venue?

It's an absolutely huge, multi-sport complex; they have lots of other courts.

QR1: Naomi BROADY (GBR) 124 lost to Natalia VIKHLYANTSEVA (RUS) 78 3-6 4-6

Jossanna are rumoured to have split, according to the BBC Fed Cup commentator. So could this be a new regular team?

Wonder if Joss might follow Laura around for a bit. Could help both.

Split. Oh thats interesting if the case. Ok, we'll watch and see. Maybe after Fed Cup dust has settled, there will be an announcement.

It's hard to get info on the doubles world sometimes. I remember when Jamie and John Peers split, on their twitter there was not a mention by either of them that their partnership had come to an end. Which looked a bit acrimonious. I know it was communicated through other channels, but still. If doubles aims to attract greater following, players using social media for updates regarding the status of their temporary and permanent partnerships would help. If they've given an interview relating to it, drop a link to it. Just simple stuff like that.

For instance, doing a search for Mergea on Dom's twitter, last mention result i get is 20th Jan. And then there's a mention of a match months later with Pavic. But just to follow twitter, you'd have no idea about the status any of it. Maybe it's an unresonable request, but you certainly can't follow things and be informed on doubles partnerships through their social media alone.

Potential R2 of Sharapova vs Radwanska could be quite tasty given the comments from both camps.

Still hope Sharapova loses to Vinci.
