I thought it might be worth having a separate topic to cover anyone wanting to comment on the other ties as opposed to GB v FRA which has its own thread of course! Apologies if I got this wrong!
AUS v USA draw is out already - no changes to line ups and Jordan Thompson leads off v Jack Sock and then Nick K is up against John Isner. Looks like it will be a 1-1 tie after day one, this match really looks like the Australians need to win both NK rubbers and then hope that Groth and Peers (if that is who they field) will be able to beat the US pair (currently down as Querrey and Johnson but clearly they have options to use Jack Sock as well if needed).
Good stuff. Certainly was never going to be anything "wrong" with it. Some generally interesting QFs this year which I imagine people here were already going to be keeping an eye on.
FRIDAY
Novak Djokovic v Albert Ramos-Vinolas
Viktor Troicki v Pablo Carreno-Busta
Belgium v Italy
Steve Darcis v Paolo Lorenzi
David Goffin v Andreas Seppi
In Serbia, Djoker should win and Troicki has the experience and home court advantage (crowd and surface) to beat C-B. That rubber is must win for Spain to stand a chance.
Belgium similarly should expect Goffin to win on what is medium fast hardcourt. Darcis is experienced in DC and should hope to win at home and on a faster court.
It feels like Belgium should expect to go in 2-0 up from tomorrow
Serbia will meet France in the SF with them both 3-0 after day 2.
Australia also now through. After that great and unexpected start given to them by Thompson win in a 2-0 opening day, Johnson & Sock beat Groth & Peers in 5 sets to make it 2-1, but on the final day Kyrgios beat Querrey in straight sets for the win. USA won the dead rubber for a final 3-2 result.
The one remaining unresolved tie stands at Belgium 2 Italy 1. A 2-0 opening day for Belgium being followed by a 5 set doubles win for Italy. Would expect Goffin to seal the tie, first up on the final day vs Lorenzi.
