Week 11 - ITF ($15K) - Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt - Hard

Katie S, Jodie Anna & Suzy all down for MD.

I have no idea about Dominique, her Pro Circuit profile is not yet created, and no junior record. The winner of that match plays Laura in QR2. Laura could do with some succour herself.

QR1: Laura DEIGMAN (GBR) [q8] 965 v. Bye
QR1: Dominique MCLEAN (GBR) UNR v. Elena GRIESSNER (AUT) UNR (=CH, JCH 1365 - this week)

Indeed you never know but the omens aren't good!!  She played 4 of the British Tour events this summer and did not get out of qualifying losing to Sophia Thomas, Nell Arendt, Kimberly Mpukusa (ZIM) and Olivia Noble.  Fingers crossed for her though.

Hopefully Laura can pick up some points this week. Positions 13-25 loooking very threadbare  in the Brit line-up.

These positions still headed, if now going to be headed from even more of a distance outside the top 500 by Lisa and Sam.

Would be great to see both back fit. Lisa at least will be a while yet with another op to come, if hopefully a very successful op.

Suzy and Laura are playing against each in the doubles.

In the singles, Jodie with her JE has drawn a Japanese WC, ranked 1236 so that's got to be good.
Laura has a fellow qualifier
And Suzy has Cadar, which isn't easy, but still not too bad, all things considered.

Katie Swan has obviously pulled out. Giving the others a chance

Well done to Laura D for qualifying. Not been the best start for her this year, but hopefully this, and the good draw in the MD can provide her a fillip to start picking up a point or two.

Not too sad to see Katie withdraw. Some rescheduling should be in process.
She could almost certainly already get into qualies in Bogota (April 10th), but on the worlds heaviest clay, at great altitude, it's a thankless trip. The Zhengzhou $125K (April 17th) is possible, but would probably be harder to get into qualies than Bogota! Wouldn't be surprised by a QWC at Charleston, who have a pro-active approach to young players and attempting to tie them in to loyalty to the event.
Otherwise the second major tranche of US Pro Circuit $25K+ events begins April 3rd, and would provide up to seven consecutive weeks of good competition for good rewards.

Laura D, Mirabelle, Suzy and EWS are the only ones likely to set 16 markers this year. All the others are injured/recovering/academically involved.

Maia seems to be playing a bit more and none too badly at that. Not sure how she stands with Stirling University.

Yes. Beth should be there too. And Laura Sainsbury I think is full time. (As well as Alicia, although just outside). They may not all get 16 counters, of course - but they should have their shot.
