Week 8 - ITF ($15K) - Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt Hard

It was on her protected ranking she had the alt spot

Ah thanks wolf, that makes things clearer. I remembered distinctly that she was an alternate. But I was then thinking but really she couldn't have been ranked so high, especially at entry date before she added grass points. Makes sense now.

Still PR or not, she had been ranked that highly before injury and had looked pretty good since her return.

More of a pity is how she hasn't since been able to reestablish herself, initially her form seeming to drop a bit and then I assume much more injury woe.

Yep, the LTA/AELTC sure did a fine job of ruining Sam's momentum; she was on the crest of a wave and they wiped her out :(

 Yes.

You have a country with barely any top players so hardly spoilt for choice.Who have an ex-top 200 player, back in form. Who is winning, that very week, against top 200 players. On grass, no less. Who because of that winning, cannot take part in the quali play-offs. And you don't give her ANY sort of wildcard. Not even a consolation doubles one.

It truly beggars belief.

And it doesn't only affect Sam.

I feel for Dave Sammel and TeamBath who are, effectively, told 'don't bother'.

And for all British players who are not part of the LTA in-crowd who are also sent the same message.
