Pouille will beat Evans  Dan has not played at this level on clay ever

will he play the clay court season he skipped it last year

Dan is currently on the main draw entry lists for Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Madrid, then 1st alternate for Rome. Good money on offer at all those events even if winning matches may prove challenging.

To be fair Dan did seem to get better as the match went on - or at least had more ideas how to deal with the devil dirt e.g not using his sliced backhand in a way that it sit up ready to be bopped by Chardy. With all those other tournaments, even if he loses in R1, he may get enough new ideas to be able to win a round or two at RG.

Well. at least we won a set. It wasn't a complete whitewash.

You're a chirpy chappy - it's endearing smilesmilesmile

(Put me in the village stocks, I know, but I sort of feel GB won it last year, it's time for someone else - and I would like it to be the French - for nothing else, just so the whole continual hoo-hah in France about not having won it for so long can finally be put to bed.....it's getting boring !).

Might have to stick the "dunce's cap" on your head too, as we won it 2 years ago in 2015. wink

You're not the first person I've seen this week referring to GB winning it last year! I suppose it is still just about one year ago if you round to the nearest 12 months

The come back is on. Evo beats Benneteau 1&2 in just 43 mins. Pity it's a bit late now but at least it won't go down as a whitewash.

I hate these dead rubbers, once the tie is mathematically over that should be it. But world is all about money, and the people that have paid getting to see some meaningless match. They should do refunds instead for the whole Sunday, or for half days.

Chardy beat Kyle 6-4 6-4 to make it 4-1 and in truth much more reflect the comprehensiveness of the French win than a 3-2 result would have.

For me the result should be 3-0 and that's that.

Yes. Give the Sunday ticket holders a refund and call it a day.

My point was you shouldn't count dead rubbers in the final result, though I probably agree with you.
