I doubt any of us are expecting 2017 to be the year of a resurgence in Em's single career, sadly, so a 6-3 6-3 defeat feels about right. Just didn't get anywhere near enough first serves in to be truly competitive today (41%!) and threw in far too many doubles (7). If she'd escaped the 7th game in the second set might have got a bit of momentum but never mind.
Plenty of girls in this draw she's still capable of beating, but not a good draw after a couple of rough seasons in singles. Fields get stronger over the next 2 weeks as well, so hopefully not unfair to focus on how her doubles performances look.
She'll team up with Alice again for the QF tomorrow.

Probably Matteucci who was involved in a 2hr single loss this morning. But either way hopefully nothing serious and both are ok
That's really unfortunate, Em needs to win titles at this level to even gain 3 points, but the match time, momentum and confidence that would have come from doing so would have been really useful (and I don't like to be overconfident but I think they would have stood a very good chance of doing so!).
She's sticking around in Sharm next week. Hopefully more positive
