Ah, but Casey could be a girl  -  e.g. Casey Dellacqua

Not at all.  I suggest you check your facts:  "Joan" is the Catalan form of the Castillian name, "Juan" (i.e. "John" in the Anglo-Saxon-speaking world). wink Never heard of the (male) Catalan artist, Joan Miró?  I further suggest that you listen to at least one of these possible Catalan pronunciations.

I think Priesty was having a joke. Just taking the mick out of the male Joan name. In the same way Anglophones take the mick out of the French male Jean name.

That's because it's a very 'basic' joke and you wouldn't find it funny. But many do.....

I find the concept of gender-neutral names quite interesting. (Not that Jean in French is gender-neutral, of course, but moving along.....)

And it's interesting that most have become purely female names i.e. we seem so scared of giving our boys 'sissy' names, the either-way names have all become female - not many (any?) male babies called Hilary or Vivien or even Leslie .... And yet we're happy to call out baby girls increasingly male names - Jamie and Sam (by itself) and Charlie and Jordan .....

I'm afraid I'm more than a little inclined to put that down to parental ignorance.  I don't have a very high opinion of the younger generation of parents, especially those who, in their ignorance, seem to think that "Aaron" is now pronounced "Arron".  Calling his son Hilary never put off Tony Wedgwood Benn, whom I grew to loath, though I have more time for Benn Junior... wink

The standard of futures is getting so bad, that they inviting women to play?

On a serious note, futures will be axed in a few years, and more challengers will make way.

Looks like a washout as play seems to be doubled up for tomorrow.

The irony is that once given the individual owns the name not the other way round! So who cares.

But I did like it when Liverpool hand an abbreviation of Candice emblazoned across the front of their shirts.

Looks like they've still got weather problems in Spain.

But Barney Fitzpatrick got over the line, 10-6, in a MTB.

Casey Recci and Evan Kennedy lost easily.
